It is used in biochemical research to catalyze the degradation of DNA, and can be used to remove DNA from protein or RNA extraction. The enzyme reaction is as follows: deoxyribonucleic acid → dinucleotide-5′-phosphate + oligonucleotide-5′-phosphate.
It is dissolved in sterile water at a reference concentration of 5mg/mL.
